David Rockwell

David Rockwell is the founder and President of Rockwell Group, an award-winning architecture and design practice in New York, with a satellite office in Madrid. For over 30 years, the firm has crafted a unique narrative for each project through the intersection of theater and architecture.

Projects include the Union Square Cafe (New York); the New York EDITION; Nobu Downtown and Nobu restaurants and hotels worldwide; the Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho hotel; W Hotels (New York, Paris, Madrid, Suzhou, Singapore and Vieques); NeueHouse (New York and Los Angeles); 15 Hudson Yards and the Shed in collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro; and set designs for more than 20 Broadway productions; and product collections for The Rug Company, Stellar Works, Knoll, Rich Brilliant Willing, Jim Thompson, and Maya Romanoff. David’s honors include the 2016 Tony Award for Best Scenic Design for the musical She Loves Me; the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter President’s Award, the National Design Award by the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, and the Presidential Design Award.
